Location Scout, Auditions and Props

Oliver Dorman, who appears in the movie in the animal shelter scene, helped with the location scout. He's seen here surveying Dog Beach on Coronado Island. This beach was ultimately not used in the film. (Click to see this shot in the teaser web page that was used during pre-production.) Fellow filmmaker Robin Rigby told me about this bridge in Hillcrest when I was having trouble finding a filmic location for the night scene where Marion adopts Happy. When I saw this Eleanor Roosevelt quote on the bridge, I instantly knew I found my location. The quote tied in so well with the theme of "Begleiter" that I incorporated it into the story.
While location scouting for "Begleiter" in Imperial Beach, we found this set that was built for Columbia Pictures' "Lords Of Dogtown," which was in production at the time.
Read any good books lately? This book cover is the only prop we had to make. It was designed by Mike Stone. While Ken Osmond doesn't really have a book out, he has started writing one. He asked for extra copies of this fake to help motiviate him to finish the real thing. It will probably not have the same title.
John Henry Litten auditions to play Happy at the Actors Alliance of San Diego in Normal Heights. American actress Aleish Russell puts on her German look as she auditions to play Marion at the Actors Alliance of San Diego in Normal Heights.
